Projects

A glimpse at the land projects we’re actively shaping, improving, and bringing to life—one property at a time.

Southern Ohio – CRP Field Project

This year’s goal was simple: establish a productive food plot in a retired CRP field to start drawing deer into the valley. The customer chose Whitetail Institute’s Destination blend for its ability to hold deer through the season. We’ll return in the spring to tackle non-native species and expand the habitat work.

Accessible Hunting Setup – Southeast Ohio

We built and installed a custom blind for this landowner who, due to age and health, can no longer safely access a treestand. After walking the property together, we developed a new game plan—removing the treestand, improving weed control, and revitalizing the food plots to keep deer moving through the area. A screen planting around the blind is also in the works to create the perfect hidden setup for seasons to come.

Honey Hole Plot – Walnut Grove Setup

After walking this heavily wooded section with the landowner, we found a natural break in the canopy that gets just enough sunlight for a small “honey hole” food plot. Tucked inside a mature walnut stand, we recommended a diverse mix for this first-time plot. We started by brush hogging, cultivating, and cleaning up the edges. A follow-up herbicide treatment knocked back regrowth, and in the coming weeks we’ll be planting Whitetail Institute’s Beets & Greens—a fall annual blend of kale, turnips, radishes, and sugar beets designed to attract and hold deer from early season through the harshest winter months.
